Hallowell, Maine – the little city with the big heart. And plenty of soul, too, in its arts and music scene, not to mention its legendary restaurants and watering holes. Nestled on the banks of the scenic Kennebec River, Hallowell has been attracting visitors since the first English settlers arrived in Maine three centuries ago. Long renowned as a mecca for antique shopping, today Hallowell is equally famous for its art and artisan galleries and one of a kind specialty shops; and increasingly becoming a destination for bicyclists, boaters and nature lovers.
Stroll our friendly, historic downtown where just about every evening, you can savor the strains of live music wafting along with the aromas of fine cuisine along quaint Water Street. Plan to stay right here in town at one of our charming bed and breakfast inns, so you can browse the shops, immerse yourself in local art and history, enjoy the entertainment, and take in all the color and character that Hallowell has to offer, year ‘round.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you!
